Salisbury Township is applying for a grant for an environmental site assessment and possible remediation work at the former McAuliffe property.
Commissioners voted 4-0, with one commissioner absent at the June 26 meeting, to approve a motion for a grant submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Industrial Sites Reuse Program and approval of the 25% match requirement in the amount of $39,008.
The ISRP is for former industrial sites.
The approximate 35-acre property, formerly McAuliffe Asphalt Paving Inc., is at 2937 S. Pike Ave. The township municipal building is at 2900 S. Pike Ave.
The McAuliffe property, which is being utilized by the township public works department, is on the east side of South Pike Avenue across from the township municipal complex.
Commissioners voted 4-0 to approve a resolution approving the township’s official sewage facilities planning module for the 2000 Nottingham Road minor subdivision.
Commissioner Alex Karol made the motion, seconded by board of commissioners Vice President Rodney Conn, to bring the motion to a vote.
The township is submitting a revision to the facilities plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
“The [township] planning commission recommended approval. They [the land developer, Robert J. and Kristen N. Bennet] must get the planning module approved by DEP,” Stan G. Wojciechowski, department head, municipal engineering services, Barry Isett & Associates, Inc, the consulting engineering firm for the township, said before the vote.
The workshop after the meeting included discussion and review of a draft ordinance regarding the maintenance of alleys by public works and a 2026 budget calendar overview.
