The Roughies were coming off two close, impressive victories – they edged North Parkland, 4-3 and downed Lower Macungie, 3-1.

Alex Bolmer struck put seven over five innings in the North Parkland win, and Reese Savercool allowed three hits and struck out three over 6.1 innings in the Lower Macungie victory.

“Both Alex and Reese pitched great game for us,” added Martell. “Alex got into a grove again, and Reese continued to pitch well. We got timely hits from Asael Gonzalez, Reese Savercool, and Steel Martell that helped us put enough across the plate to come out on top at the end of the games. But we are still leaving quite a few runners left on base.”

Savercool was 3-0 with a 0.80 ERA, and Bolmer was 2-3 with a 4.84 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 30 innings.

Also, Savercool was hitting .440 with six RBIs, and Gonzalez was at .361 with a team-high eight RBIs.

Chase Jarrah has been an anchor in center field, as Martell noted that he made some outstanding plays against Lower Macungie that robbed them of at least three hits.

The Roughies lined up for their final week of the regular season with games against Franklin Township Monday, Salisbury, Tuesday, Freemansburg, Wednesday, and Emmaus Friday.

“This week due to the weather we have four games,” stressed Martell. “Last week of the regular season, and I believe we match up well against the remaining opponents. We control our own destiny.”
