Hanover Township seeks full-time receptionist

At the June 18 Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting, township Manager Melissa Wehr informed council the township plans on hiring a full-time receptionist. She said applicants interested in learning more about the role or applying should call the township office at 610-264-1069.

A full job description is posted on the township website at hanleco.org.

The township also seeks a part-time code enforcement officer. Information on the code enforcement position is also on the township website.

In other business, Wehr reported the summer series of movies in the park has begun at Chestnut Grove Park, 2202 Grove Road, Allentown. There is free admission, and the movies start at dusk. The movies are sponsored by Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Wehr’s report ended with council approving her suggested capital plan meeting for 6 p.m. July 16, before the regularly scheduled 7 p.m. council meeting that evening.

Council approved bill 2025-33, which is an ordinance amending Chapter 7, Part 9, Section 902 of the statutory code of Hanover Township to permit the use of wood chip smokers in outdoor cooking. The bill passed with a 3-1 vote, with one councilmember absent.

Resolution 2025-33 was approved to appoint Peter Backus to the township planning commission.

A motion was approved by council to review and approve an update to resolution 2024-38, the preliminary/ final land development to Provident Group-Lehigh Valley Properties LLC and the Development Advisory LLC, 3337 Airport Road, Allentown.

Council approved the bills for June 18 in the amount of $98,186.36.

Councilman Anthony Rossi raised an issue of concern with people drag racing on Saturday nights in a large parking lot in the township. Council Chairman Bruce Paulus requested Wehr contact the Pennsylvania State Police to report the issue.

There was also a report of vandalism at Canal Park, and it was reported the perpetrator was caught.
