Coplay: Honey Buzzards to perform

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., continues its summer concert series. The lineup for Friday night concerts includes the Honey Buzzards July 11 and Mere Mortals July 18.

The gates open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Bands will play until 10 p.m.

The Wednesday acoustic concerts are 6-9 p.m. The schedule includes Mere Mortals July 16, Honey and Nutz July 30, Irv Ball and Video Daze Aug. 13 and Tim Harakal Aug. 27. The kitchen will be open.

Coplay Sports is holding in-person baseball sign-ups for the fall season for ages 9-15. Sign-ups will be noon-2 p.m. July 12 and 26 and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 16 at the Coplay Sports clubhouse, 666 Potter Terrace.

A grateful Coplay community extends a happy birthday wish to Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association on its 70th birthday this July. Hundreds of volunteers have assisted the group in achieving its goals over the past seven decades.

Public works Director Paul Boyle announced brush and branch pickup will continue through Sept. 26.

Call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups for sofas, mattresses (plastic encased), chairs, dressers or other large items. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Explorer Post 101 works to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading for 12- to 21-year-olds.

Join the new Explorer Club for youths ages 12-14. Meetings are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building.
