PRESS PHOTOS BY DANA GRUBBBethlehem’s night sky dazzled over the Lehigh River on July Fourth as thousands of spectators celebrated our nation’s 249th birthday watching the pyrotechnics launched from Sand Island. Smoke and colorful bursts gave the appearance of cosmic nebulae from deeper in the universe. And relics of Bethlehem Steel’s blast furnace heyday were prominently silhouetted against many of the higher bursts, a reminder of the fire that once filled their bellies.
