Veteran Bethlehem Area School District transportation manager Sandy McKeon called it a career on May 2 as she retired with just short of 18 years in the position. McKeon, who was responsible for overseeing dispatch, routing and staffing the busing of students each day, oversaw the nearly 150 employees and 100 buses that transport 10,000 students daily for the district’s transportation department.
McKeon received a huge send-off as she stood in the staff parking lot while drivers headed out in their buses at 2 p.m. on their the afternoon runs. She waved as flashing lights, beeping horns and well-wishing waves from the drivers sent her into retirement.
McKeon says retirement will allow her to travel to visit family and spend more time enjoying events at local places like SteelStacks.
