LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Whitehall gears up

The Lehigh Valley Legion season is coming down the home stretch with July 3 being the final date for the regular season.

The Whitehall-Coplay squad was 6-4 this week and in the hunt for the league title and head coach Andy Hausman is happy with how the team has grown from the start of the season.

“The team has been improving and playing well and is jelling nicely,” said Hausman. “Due to the extended high school playoffs and our condensed legion schedule we don’t have time to hold practices, so it takes a few games to find the right combinations of offense and defensive alignments.”

Ryan Lindenmuth, Dylan Grohotolsky and Brad Kibler have led the way on the mound for the club this summer, as they share a combined record of 4-2. Lindenmuth leads the team with a 2.4 ERA and a WHIP of 1.14. Offensively, Kolby Miller is carrying a .348 batting average, followed by Nick Kotsch at .333 and Zack Schaedel at .320.

Schaedel and Miller share the team lead with eight hits and four RBI each. Schaedel leads the team with four stolen bases. Jules Alatzas leads the team with an OPS of .935 and a .500 slugging percentage.

“We are right in the mix to battle for the league championship, which is one of our team’s goals,” said Hausman. “I knew going in to this season our pitching would be solid. We have been playing well defensively and our bats are coming around now too.”
