Lehigh Valley’s appearance in the Carpenter Cup Classic Softball Tournament, sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies, came to its conclusion on June 23 with a record of 2-1.
Lehigh Valley won its first game on June 19 against Olympic Colonial, 4-3.
Lehigh Valley trailed, 3-1, heading to the bottom of the seventh inning when Brooke Rummel’s (Freedom) two-out, 2 RBI triple tied the game.
Taylor Hauver (Emmaus) then tripled to score Rummel for the walk-off.
In the circle, Morgan Laub (Whitehall) held Olympic for four innings.
Also on June 19, Lehigh Valley shut out Philadelphia PCCAF, 14-0.
Taylor Friel (Nazareth) had a home run, and Hannah Duerr (Northampton) and Avery Deibert (Northampton) went 3-for-4.
Lehigh Valley’s third game of the day versus Jersey Shore was canceled due to rain.
The final day of the Carpenter Cup Softball Classic was played on June 23 when Lehigh Valley fell to SOL/BAL, 7-1, and were eliminated from the tournament.
SOL/BAL scored five runs in the first inning and tallied a total of 12 hits in the game.
Lehigh Valley scored one run in the third inning and had four total hits.
Duerr doubled to left field, and courtesy runner Avery Kauffman (Nazareth) scored on Abby Derr’s (Emmaus) hit to the outfield.
