EHS names student of the week
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents are Nancy and Todd; siblings are Mandie and Craig; pets are Maggie and Willie.
Q. Having recently completed high school, do you have any special plans for this summer?
A. My current plan is to work as a lifeguard at the Alburtis Community Pool. I also plan on spending plenty of time with my friends and family.
Q. What was your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?
A. My favorite class was Latin, taught by Ms. Newcomer. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed, safe and comfortable. I always knew I would get a good laugh in her class while learning; not everyone has the ability to make their class have fun while learning.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. The awards I received this year are the MollySTRONG Foundation scholarship and the Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute Athlete Community Service scholarship.
Q. Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I founded and ran the Aevidum Club which I was very active in. I was vice president of Kid2Kid. I was a Hornet Ambassador for most of my time at Emmaus. I was also on the wrestling team. When I wasn’t doing any of that, in the spring I was active in LMYA rec baseball. Being active in all activities taught me the value of hard work, leadership, communication and determination.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. The biggest challenge I have faced while being in high school was going through these four years without my twin brother. I was forced to find out who I was in order to navigate through high school.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My next goal after high school is to attend Marywood University where I will be majoring in social work and where I will continue to spread mental health awareness to youth.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. If I could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person I would choose to talk to my brother who may not be historically significant but I would choose to speak to him. Because I would want to know what was going on inside of his head.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I want to be remembered as a leader, someone who stood up for the right thing no matter what.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My best advice I can give is if you are going through a tough time, hold on just a little longer. You are never alone and it will get better. The sun always comes back.
