Earth Day 2025 Clean Up Event 2025 results announced

Congratulations to Upper Milford Township on the return of Jasper Day.
Held June 21 in Jasper Park, the event included a trail run, fun walk, vendor displays, food, cool treats and more.
According to coverage by The Press reporter Lisa Draper, the event revived a tradition in the township with a focus on encouraging use of Jasper Park.
Hosting organizations included the Upper Milford Township Recreation Commission, the Upper Milford Youth Association and Upper Milford Township.

The Emmaus and Upper Milford Joint Environment Advisory Council recently announced results from the Earth Day cleanup effort April 26 and April 27.
According to a recent news release, rainy weather, including several heavy downpours, prompted some volunteer groups to move efforts to April 27.
Organizers estimated 62 attendees picked up litter and trash in areas in Emmaus borough and Upper Milford Township including Emmaus Community, Furnace Dam, Jasper and Lenape parks; the railroad areas near Weis Markets and CVS Pharmacy, Chestnut Street; the walking trail along South Cedar Crest Boulevard within the Fields at Indian Creek subdivision; the Fulmer Nature Preserve; the area under the Pennsylvania Turnpike Bridge near the House and Barn restaurant, Chestnut Street and the grounds of the Emmaus Public Library, East Main Street, as well as areas along German Road, 10th Street and Broad Street.
Both municipalities had public works employees help with set up, collection and disposal of litter and trash collected during the cleanup.
Debris gathered included 37 30-gallon bags of trash, five 30-gallon bags of recyclables, 9,813 pounds of electronic waste, 2,740 pounds of paper, miscellaneous car parts and a tire.
Electronic waste recycling and shredding services were provided in Emmaus Community Park April 26.
Congratulations to the council and thank you to the many volunteers who gave of their time and energy.
The 2026 event will be held April 25 and will mark 20 years of the joint effort.
A reminder to Upper Milford Historical Society members. The annual picnic potluck is scheduled 6 p.m. July 31 at Domaine Pterion, Macungie. The event is exclusive to historical society members and their guests.
The historical society’s August meeting is scheduled to feature speaker Candace Perry, curator of collections at the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center in Pennsburg.
Lower Milford Township residents may want to check into the variety of programs coming up at the Southern Lehigh Library this month.
On July 3, Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary Program will visit the library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
On July 16, the library will host Family Fort Night, 6:30-8 p.m. Library visitors are encouraged to bring blankets, pillows, books and flashlights. Participants will scout out a space in the library to build a fort and read. Please note that the library will be closed to the public during the event.
The fun continues July 21 with a clown and circus class 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Performer Keith Crabbs, a former circus clown, will lead the session, which is designed for children 5 years and older.
