Shirley E. Conner, 81, of Whitehall, died peacefully June 27, 2025, in St. Luke’s Hospice House after years of living with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Mary (Derr) Ruth. She was the wife of the late Ulysses Conner.
She graduated from Emmaus High School in 1961.
She was a data processor with Chrysler First and she worked in the Whitehall Middle School cafeteria until retirement.
She enjoyed the outdoors, long walks and caring for her yard. She was very passionate about crocheting and telling stories about her former home — the historic 1803 House, in Emmaus.
She was a very comforting individual, and whether she was playfully dancing or just being silly, she always enjoyed making others smile, even if she did not know them.
She is survived by her daughter, Daneen Dex and her husband, Gregory; son, Donald and his wife, Jill; grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Kathryn, Jackson and Jordan.
Services will be held July 3 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall. The viewing will begin 10 a.m. followed by the service 11 a.m.
