Lonnie Melvin Gillespie, 85, died June 21, 2025, at Sacred Heart Senior Living, Northampton. He was the husband of Karen (Reid) Gillespie for 65 years.

Born in North Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Gerald and Melba (Davis) Gillespie.

He was a 1957 graduate of Catasauqua High School, where he was a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1960 until 1966.

He worked as a milkman until 1966 when he was employed by Bethlehem Steel. After retiring from Bethlehem Steel in 1998, he drove a school bus for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 until 2010.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Catasauqua.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Gerald; two sisters, Diane Martin and Marilyn Muller; a daughter, Colleen and husband Clint Lucas; a son, William and wife Tracy; five grandchildren, Hilary, Brianna, Nicholas, Patrick and Abigail; and five great-grandchildren, Heath, Reed, Jaxson, Davis and Violet.
