Kenneth R. Kackenmeister

EPSD industrial arts teacher

Kenneth R. Kackenmeister, 74, of Macungie, died at his home June 20, 2025.

He was born in Williamsport and was the son of the late Carl F. Kackenmeister and Bernice A. (Harbach) Kackenmeister.

He was a catcher in Little League Baseball and enjoyed fishing and card games. He worked several summers as a YMCA camp counselor where he taught canoeing and took campers on canoe trips to Canada.

He graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1969 and attended Williamsport Area Community College. Following in his father’s footsteps, he attended California State College and received his bachelor’s degree in industrial arts/education. After graduating, he taught industrial arts in the East Penn School District at Eyer Middle School, formerly Eyer Junior High, from 1974 until his retirement in 2008.

During summer breaks and retirement, he spent many happy days gathering with family and friends at the Creek House in Barbours, Pa. He enjoyed meeting up with his teaching colleagues for lunch and spending time with his four grandchildren and family, whom he loved dearly. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and will forever be remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.

He is survived by sons, Craig M. and his wife, Katie and their children, Laura and Caroline, of Macungie; Scott A. and his children, Emma and Liam, of Bethlehem; brother, Carl F. Jr. and his wife, Eileen, of Hampton, N.H.; sister, Karen and best friend, Becky Wiedemer, of Newark, Del.; niece, Elizabeth, of Hampton, N.H.; nephew, Chris and wife, Christin and children, Catherine and Cameron, of Greenland, N.H.; aunt, Barbara Harbach, of Williamsport; many cousins.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 1629 Hamilton St., Allentown. Calling hours will be 1-2:30 p.m. before the service. Online condolences may be made at www.BKRFH.com.
