Council authorizes pursuit of property purchase

At the April 14 Bath Borough Council meeting, council approved a motion to authorize the borough solicitor and borough manager to prepare the requisite documents needed to proceed with the purchase of the property at Creek Road, Tax Map ID No. K6-2-2-0503, for a purchase price of $1,500.

In the park and recreation committee report, it was noted the band shell improvement project is moving forward and is expected to be completed in late June or early July 2025.

The public works committee report indicated the public works bathroom and garage remodeling project is stalled as costs are being reviewed and reexamined. A scaling down of the project is being considered by council to reduce costs.

Council authorized the borough’s solicitor’s office to proceed with a draft ordinance to develop the official borough map for council’s subsequent consideration and possible acceptance.

The borough’s solicitor’s office was also granted permission to develop a draft ordinance for the adoption of a revised zoning map and overlay districts.

Council granted a waiver request to Northampton County regarding stormwater management, relative to the construction of the Nor-Bath Trail East Extension, as proposed in the county’s waiver request letter, which is dated April 1.

Council also granted a waiver request to Northampton County regarding Bath’s subdivision and land development ordinance, as proposed in the county’s waiver request letter dated April 1, regarding the extension of the Nor-Bath Trail.

The borough’s personnel, finance and administration committee was, by a council motion, granted to proceed with the development of the borough council handbook.

Council appointed Councilman Emmanuel Mirabito to be the borough’s alternate member of the Northampton County tax collection committee. It was reported the committee meets about twice annually.

Council delayed the vote on resolution 2025-004, which would authorize the First Regional Compost Authority agreement to review in an executive session before voting.

Resolution 2025-005 to add the public works employees to act as parking code officials was tabled per the solicitor’s request.

Mayor Fiorella Reginelli Mirabito said the Pennsylvania State Police was conducting speed enforcement in the borough.

The borough manager was granted authorization by council to purchase seven laptops for council members.

Council amended page 13 of the borough’s snow and ice control policy. The policy can be accessed by visiting the borough’s website.

Council also voted to acknowledge Bath Fire Department’s 2025 calendar of events, dated March 3.
