Liberty’s Marketing Musikfest class is proud to announce its three upcoming artists performing at Musikfest 2025: SLAMB, Alex Cano, The Skating Party and Swing that Cat. These bands will take the stage at Plaza Tropical Saturday, Aug. 2, during the following times:

• Swing that Cat – 12 p.m.

• SLAMB – 1 p.m.

• Alex Cano – 2 p.m.

• The Skating Party – 3 p.m.

Originating in Philadelphia, Swing that Cat engaged in many live acts, including radio, podcasts and other streams around the world. This band has an interesting style of jazz mixing “The sultry Jazz sound of Sarah Vaughan and Rosemary Clooney with the bawdy early rock-n-roll roar of Etta James.” Their latest album release was ~Leap!~ in 2024.

Having many different origins, the band, SLAMB, is a multi-mix of rock, jazz, funk and many other musical genres, including indie. Their latest song, “Beetz,” was released in 2024.

Alex Cano, a Rock/Americana artist, has been compared to bands and other artists such as: Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, The Black Crowes, Jason Isbell and Johnny Cash. His Debut album, Every Rise of the Sun is storytelling about survivorship along with resilience and connecting with the audience. . A unique mix of Philly Dream Pop & Post-Punk, the Skating Party started out as a side project in 2012 focusing on layered melodic chords recorded from the bedroom of Gregory James. The Latest Album, Age of the Cruel, was released in January 2024.

About Marketing Musikfest: Marketing Musikfest is a unique, hands-on program offered at Freedom HS, Liberty HS and the Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts. In this course, students play an active role in shaping Musikfest by selecting bands to perform and leading key aspects of the festival’s programming, marketing and public relations efforts.

At Liberty HS, students are tasked with auditioning and selecting four bands, creating and managing a working budget, and developing marketing strategies that align with real-world industry standards. Throughout the semester, representatives from ArtsQuest, the nonprofit organization behind Musikfest, visit the class to mentor students on programming, marketing and PR best practices.
