July 4 fireworks
The City of Bethlehem will present its annual fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m. Friday, July 4 (weather permitting). In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be held on July 5 at approximately 9:15 p.m. For updates regarding weather conditions and fireworks scheduling, visit bethlehem-pa.gov) and social media accounts.
Fired from Sand Island, the fireworks will be visible from various areas of the city particularly around City Center Plaza on East Church Street.
Prior to the fireworks display, the American Legion Band will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. at the City Center Plaza.
To allow for safety during set-up of the display, all activity on Sand Island East will be closed to the public at 7:30 a.m. July 4.
A reminder from the Fire Marshal:
As of October 2017, consumer grade fireworks are legal to purchase and possess across the State of Pennsylvania.
However, the use of fireworks remains limited by state law. In order to use consumer fireworks, a person must be
18 years of age or older, but a person MAY NOT INTENTIONALLY IGNITE OR DISCHARGE CONSUMER
FIREWORKS.
(1) BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9 p.m. AND 9 a.m..
(2) ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHOUT THE EXPRESS PERMISSION OF THE OWNER.
(3) WITHIN, OR FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE OR BUILDING.
(4) INTO OR AT A MOTOR VEHICLE OR BUILDING OR AT ANOTHER PERSON.
(5) WHILE THE PERSON IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL, A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE OR ANOTHER DRUG.
(6) WITHIN 150 FEET OF AN OCCUPIED STRUCTURE. AN “OCCUPIED STRUCTURE” IS DEFINED BY STATE LAW AS A STRUCTURE, VEHICLE OR PLACE ADAPTED FOR OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION OF PERSONS OR FOR CONDUCTING BUSINESS WHETHER OR NOT A PERSON IS ACTUALLY PRESENT.
