Upper Macungie offering summer camp for kids

Upper Macungie Township will hold its Grub and Groove at Grange series 5-8 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 25 in the parking lot Pavilion No. 1 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road.

Come out and enjoy various food trucks and music.

The township’s free Concert in the Park series will feature the David Koster Band 6 p.m. and the Kelly Bell Band 7:30 p.m. June 28 at Grange Park.

Concerts will be held monthly through October and will showcase outdoor live music.

Food and beverage vendors will include Grubnight, The Wicked Chef, Wow Wagon, McCall Collective Brewing, Clover Hill Winery, Triple Sun Spirits and Pop Truck.

Upper Macungie Township’s “NASA – Academy of Future Space Explorers” Mad Science Summer Camp will take place 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 30 to July 3 at Lone Lane Park, 30 Lone Lane.

This five-day camp for kids ages 6-12 will journey into outer space. Set your future space explorers on a trajectory from our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system.

Living in Space, getting away from gravity and building their own rocket are just some of the far-out activities to take place.

There is a cost for this program.

The township will show the movie “Dog Man” (PG) July 11 at Lone Lane Park.

Activities begin around 5:30 p.m. and the movie will start as soon as the sun goes down.

Come dressed as your favorite superhero for a chance to win big in the township’s costume contest.

There will be surprised heroic guests appearances and face painters will be on hand.

Lehigh Valley Martial Arts, 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown, will offer a kids self-defense workshop noon to 1 p.m. July 12. Preregistration is required.

St. Paul’s UCC, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown, will hold Vacation Bible School 6-7:45 p.m. June 29 to July 3.

A free family dinner will be offered 5:15-6 p.m.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will hold its Vacation Bible School Day 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26.

Join them on the “Rocky Railway” for a one-day program filled with stories, games, music, crafts, lunch and more.

All are welcome to attend.

Students ages 5-12 may participate; teens may volunteer to be helpers. Please register by July 13.

Music will be by ”Waitin’ on Sundown” 6-9 p.m.

There will be food, a cake walk and fellowship.

Ziegels Vacation Bible School for youth who have completed kindergarten to sixth grade will be offered 6-8:15 p.m. through June 27 at 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville.

The Alaskan theme is called True North, Trusting Jesus in Our Wild World.

Participants will learn about Jesus and the gospel of Matthew at Bible Adventures and Sticky Scripture, play Glacier Games, eat snacks at Tundra Treats and do science experiments at Imagination Station.

As part of the Ziegels 275th Anniversary, the church will hold its annual tractor and car show noon to 7 p.m. July 12.

Entertainment will be by the Macungie Band, Brandywine Colonial Fife, and Drum Corp, J-Tyme, Science by Mr. Fugazzatto, Marian and Friends, puppet show and more.

There will be food, games, raffles, a bake sale, tractor pulls and fun for all ages.

Admission is free.
