Jordan UCC welcomes 10 new confirmands on Pentecost Sunday

Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, Allentown, celebrated Pentecost June 8 by welcoming 10 young confirmands into full membership of the church. The special worship service marked the culmination of a yearlong journey of faith and learning for these new members.

Throughout the year, the confirmands engaged in classes, discussions and spiritual reflection to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith and their personal commitment to it. Surrounded by family, friends and the congregation, each youth publicly affirmed their belief and dedication to living a life of faith.

“It is always such a blessing to witness young people take this important step in their spiritual journey,” Dr. David Charles Smith, senior pastor at Jordan UCC said. “Confirmation is not only a tradition, but a meaningful moment of commitment and growth in our faith community.”

Pentecost, often referred to as the “birthday of the Church,” provided a fitting backdrop for this milestone as it celebrates the Holy Spirit’s presence and the beginning of the Christian church’s mission in the world.

Jordan UCC celebrates these young members and looks forward to walking alongside them as they continue their journey of faith.
