Emmaus falls to Pates in D-11 baseball quarterfinal

The Emmaus baseball team saw its season end by the slimmest of margins last week.

The Hornets fell 2-1 to Freedom to end their season in the first round of the District 11 Class 6A playoffs.

Emmaus, the No. 6 seed in districts, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Aaron Fleetwood doubled and eventually scored on a throwing error when he stole third base.

Freedom, the No. 3 seed, tied the game on an Santiago Rodriguez home run in the bottom of the second and went ahead on another solo homer, this time from Ryan Kullman.

Patriot pitchers Chase Walker and Matt Heineman allowed just four hits and no earned runs in the win while striking out eight Emmaus batters and walking none. Rodriguez went 2-for-2 in the win.

The Hornets got a solid outing from Jaden Betz, who allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five batters while walking three. Fleetwood, Tanner Karwacki, Drew McGeehan and Robbie Barnes had one hit each for Emmaus.

The Hornets finish the season at 11-10 after going 8-8 in East Penn Conference games in 2025.
