Carolyn McGuinness
Carolyn (Connie)(née Mantz) McGuinness, 92, died peacefully June 18, 2025, at her home in Athens, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Clayton W. and Elverta C. (Hunsicker) Mantz, of Emmaus.
She was a member of the Emmaus Moravian Church.
She graduated from Emmaus High School in 1951 while employed at the Emmaus Cab Company and was later employed at Air Products in the accounting department.
She worked throughout most of her adult life most notably at Allison Clothing Company, ARA Food Service at Mack Trucks and Kmart on South Fourth Street, Allentown, from which she retired after 22 years. She continued to work part-time at Kmart in Sayre, Pa. until the store closed shortly before her 85th birthday.
With three girls in tow, she attended many of her husband and son’s Little League and basketball games but was not satisfied there were no such activities for girls. Never one to wait for others to pick up the reins, in the late 1960s, she spearheaded, recruited parents and launched Mountainville’s girls kickball league that expanded in the following years to include a citywide league. She grew the program to include girls winter workshops in dance, tumbling and baton.
She is survived by children, Robert Bruce, and his wife, Genevieve, Karen L. and her husband, Aaron H. Wilcoxson; Sandra Jeanne Kipp, Barbara Ellen; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandchildren, Joseph Marucci, Amanda Schaad, Bryan, Connie Kipp, Alexander Kipp, Sydney Wilcoxson, Christopher; seven great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, James (Scotty) and son, Scott Alan.
