Macungie Borough Council met June 16 for its regularly scheduled meeting where the bill list was reviewed and approved. The minutes from the previous meeting were also approved.
The Macungie police provided a monthly report noting there were 212 incidents in May compared to 234 incidents in May 2024.
Macungie Ambulance provided a report showing 431 calls in May with 28 in the borough.
The Emmaus Public Library presented its monthly report including a survey for residents as the library is interested in adults’ interests.
A resident mentioned the crosswalk light at Race Street and Route 100 was placed in a difficult spot and suggested it be relocated. The Locust Street sidewalk project was approved and will go out for bid.
Mary Nixon was appointed to the zoning hearing board. Nixon has an extensive background in responsible development and has resided in Macungie for quite awhile.
Resolution 2025-03 was approved for the promissory note for the police radios to be payable over five years in the amount of $88,598.88.
Brian Sayre was approved as a new member of the public works department.
A fireworks display permit was approved for Brookside Country Club on July 6.
There was an executive session regarding legal, personnel and real estate issues.
