North Catasauqua: St. John Fisher welcomes Rev. Tolentino as administrator
St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church welcomes the Rev. Eric Tolentino, from Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Catasauqua, as the administrator of St. John Fisher. The former pastor, the Rev. Eric Gruber, left June 17 for his new assignment at St. Joseph Parish in Summit Hill.
There is a new mass schedule for St. John Fisher. Weekly Masses will be held 8 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Saturday Mass is set for 4 p.m. and Sunday Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Confessions will be held 3:15-3:45 p.m. Saturdays. For Holy Days, there will be a Mass 6 p.m. the day before and 12:05 p.m. on the Holy Day.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua, will be hold ing its annual block party, rain or shine, set for 6-10 p.m. June 19 and 20 and 5-10 p.m. June 21. Come out to enjoy children’s games, bingo in the air-conditioned parish hall, basket raffles and a bake sale.
Your favorite foods will be available as well, such as steak/cheesesteak sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, turkey barbecue, cabbage and noodles, potato pancakes, funnel cake and more.
D.H. Productions will entertain Thursday and Friday. Sons of Izzy will be there all evening Saturday.
Feel free to bring your own chair and find a spot in the grass lot.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., will hold its monthly food drive 10 a.m.-noon July 11 in the church parking lot. Nonperishable food items will be accepted to benefit Catasauqua Area Food Bank.
Drive through to donate your items, and church volunteers will help to unload your contributions.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua will hold its next free community lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 21. The free community lunch is given out to folks in the community with food insecurity or those who could use a helping hand.
The church is also accepting donations for the Roughie Pantry. The pantry is set up to “love our school-aged neighbors.” The pantry is currently accepting shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body wash, tampons, sanitary napkins, etc. Collection bins are located at the church entrances.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is stocked with unique items and bargains.
The regular store hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The shop is happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours. Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.
Note: Any donations or checks to the thrift shop must be written to Catasauqua Community Partnership or CCPI and not to the thrift shop, due to banking regulations.

The North Catasauqua Park snack stand is now open for the summer season. As a reminder, the snack stand is cash only. Stop by and get a snack or a cool drink while visiting the park. The stand will remain open until the fall.

Catasauqua Area Food Bank, 527 Front St., is accepting donations of pasta, cereal, soup, rice, stuffing, instant potatoes, granola bars and peanut butter crackers. Donations may be dropped off during open hours, which are scheduled for 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Monetary donations are also accepted.
