Moore Township: Moore Township Recreation Committee will meet June 19

Moore Township Recreation Committee next meets 7 p.m. June 19 at the municipal building, 2491 Community Drive.

The first astronomical day of summer is June 20 — specifically 10:42 p.m. — with June 21 being the first full day of summer for 2025. It is considered the summer solstice. Wishing all a wonderful and safe summer!

The Community Days committee announced the summer concert series begins June 28 at the recreation center, 635 English Road. The band South Penn Dixie will entertain.

The Rev. Michael S. Netznik Sr., of Covenant United Methodist Church in Klecknersville, has announced his retirement will be June 30. His ministry in the United Methodist Church has spanned 48 years, including nine years at Covenant.

A retirement reception is scheduled for June 29 at Covenant, 2715 Mountain View Drive. Netznik will deliver the message at the 9 a.m. worship service.

The board of supervisors next meets 6 p.m. July 1 at the municipal building. A meeting agenda is available on the township website, mooretownship.org.

The township land and environmental protection board will next meet 7 p.m. July 14 at the township recreation center pavilion, 635 English Road.

The board of supervisors is planning the replacement of the municipal building or major renovations to the current building. Visit mooretownship.org or call the township office to learn more about the plan.

Bingo is played 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Department, 2718 Mountain View Drive. Doors open 5 p.m.

There will be prizes, a progressive jackpot, rob the piggy bank, washline bingo and more fun.

Yard waste can be dropped off 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 7 a.m.-dusk Saturdays at the municipal complex. The bins for drop-off are located near the public works garage, through the gate and to the right.

There is one bin for weeds and one bin for brush. The drop-off is closed on most holidays.

The police department reminds all motorists to drive defensively and be on guard as school is out for the summer. There will be more kids on bicycles and increased motorcycles on the roads.
