Parking to be restricted in Little Lehigh Acres
At the May 15 Upper Milford Township Supervisors meeting, Ordinance No. 173 was approved to restrict parking in Little Lehigh Acres. A number of streets near Emmaus High School will be impacted. Signs will be placed at the end of the school year and the ordinance is in effect July 14. When students return to school at the end of August, they will not be able to use these streets for parking throughout the school day.
The board approved a lot line adjustment for 3055 and 3061 Main Road East, contingent on a letter received from the planning commission.
In new business, Township Manager Bud Carter initiated discussion on Resolution 2010-031 regarding the enforcement policy and how the township handles complaints. Verbal and written complaints were discussed as well as terms used in descriptions such as “serious” versus “immediate.” The board said it wants consistency and documentation of the complaints.
Supervisors Chair Dan Mohr wants to explore how other municipalities deal with complaints.
Also in new business, the board approved the request to advertise for a bid to replace the culverts at Salem Bible Church Road.
The board also approved Carter enter negotiations and make an offer with Upper Macungie on a 2015 John Deere backhoe for sale. The current one the township uses is a 1996 model.
A representative for the Emmaus Public Library shared a recent program “A Matter of Balance” for older adults will be offered again in spring 2026. The summer reading program (which began June 9) is for both children and adults. An ice cream social is planned June 19.
Lauren Haponski, a member of the recreation committee, told the board trees have been planted at Arrowhead Park. She also said Jasper Day is set for June 21. Numerous events such as a 5K run and family walk are planned for this event. Information can be found on the township’s website. Mohr hopes the Vera Cruz homecoming committee will have an information table set up at Jasper Day. The Vera Cruz homecoming will be in August and they are beginning to organize events.
Mohr said a speed sign was placed on Main Road East with an average speed of 42-48 mph. Previous average was 35 mph.
