June 11
Emmaus Garden Club bus trip to Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum. This 50-acre estate is located along the banks of the Delaware River, just north of Philadelphia. The site includes the Big House, a Greek Revival mansion built in 1797, extensive public gardens and an arboretum. The bus departs Weis Market, Chestnut Street, Emmaus, 8:15 a.m. and returns to the market 5 p.m. The cost includes deluxe motor coach transportation and admission to the grounds. Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also June 18 and June 25 Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted to direct where to park and which door to use to pick up food.
June 13
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host a free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall. Diners are welcome to eat at the church or pick up a meal to take home. For more information, call the church office at 610-966-3325.
June 14
Emmaus Flag Day celebration 2 p.m. at Emmaus Community Park in the Arts Pavilion, sponsored by the Emmaus Rotary Club. Emmaus residents, friends, local veterans, Scout troops and area dignitaries are invited. East Penn students in fifth and eighth grades will read their winning poetry and essays on the theme “What the American Flag Means to Me.” Guest speaker is David Binder, a two-tour combat Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Refreshments will be served.
June 19
The Emmaus High School Class of 1965 will host its 60th year class reunion starting noon at The Patio at Delizioso Italian Grill, 1985 Brookside Road, Macungie. Appetizers will be followed by a buffet lunch. There is a per person cost for tickets. June 21
Upper Milford Township Recreation Committee, UMYA and Upper Milford Township will host a Jasper Day Celebration at Jasper Park, 4960 Vera Cruz Road, 1-4 p.m. The family-friendly event will include the Tour de Vera Cruz 5K Trail Run, the 1.5K Family Summer Stroll as well as games and fun on the park playground.
June 24
Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will meet 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville. The program is “Geography, Geology and Genius: how coal and canals ignited the American Industrial Revolution.” Martha Capwell-Fox, historian for the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, Inc. will present the program. Hear the stories of those who were responsible for the rapid innovations in transportation and industry.
June 28
The 1803 House, 55 S. Keystone Ave., Emmaus, will participate in Lehigh Valley Passport to History 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
