Bond presentation discussed in Upper Macungie Township

At the June 5, Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors meeting, representatives from PFM and Eckert Seamans gave a presentation on the authorization of a bond to fund upcoming capital projects.

The board plans to finalize the bond amount at a special meeting within the next two weeks, emphasizing a commitment to transparency and addressing community priorities.

Discussion focused on the need for financial flexibility to support key projects, that were in the Facilities Evaluation report which includes, the township building, police department, three fire stations and public works.

Resident Patrick Foose, a former Parkland School Board director, underscored the importance of responsible budgeting and clear purpose, referencing Parkland’s past issues with managing their reserve funds.

The board voted on a motion to approve the bond purchasing agreement. The measure passed 2-1, with Supervisor Sunny Ghai voting in opposition.
