The Upper Lehigh Lions Club recently donated 51 boxes of cereal to the Northern Lehigh Food Bank.
The group also contributed $3,000 to the Sights for Hope project of the Lions organization which is devoted to issues of vision.
Union United Church of Christ, 5550 Route 873, Neffs, honored the accomplishments of individuals graduating from high school, college, grad school and beyond. The 8 a.m. worship time has ended and will resume Sept. 7.
St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laury’s Station, observed Pentecost and confirmation June 8.
Pastor James Gottwald said Pentecost is the celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit. In the time following the first Easter, the disciples were unsure how to proceed to share the resurrection message.
“The answer was blowing in the wind” as the Holy Spirit empowered them to go forth to each and spread the news. Pentecost is know as the birthday of the Christian church.
St. John’s celebrated the gift of the spirit with the rite of confirmation for six young people. The pastor offered a prayer for the confirmands and all others.
“Holy Spirit, empower us with your hope, grace and will to follow you.”
The congregation also honored high school and college graduates.
St. John’s will begin the 9 a.m. summer worship schedule June 15.
Save the date for Vacation Bible School at St. John’s – 6-8 p.m. July 7-11. Children ages four and up to and including those entering seventh grade are invited to participate in the “Happy Campers” program. For more information, call 610-262-8061.
