Dear BASD community; As we close another incredible year, I want to thank our students, families, staff and the entire BASD community for their unwavering support, partnership and dedication. This year has been filled with growth, achievement and countless moments of pride. Whether in our classrooms, on our stages, or out in the community, your commitment to excellence and care for one another has made a lasting impact. On behalf of the district, I wish you all a safe, restful and joyful summer. Thank you for making BASD such a special place to learn and grow.

PLANNING FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR: The first day of the 2025-26 school year will be Monday, August 25, 2025! We’re still enjoying every moment of this school year, but it’s never too early to mark those calendars. The full 2025-26 calender is on the school website, basdschools.org

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!: June marks Pride Month, a time to recognize and affirm the diverse identities that strengthen our schools and our community. In the BASD, we are committed to creating a welcoming environment where every student, staff member and family feels seen, supported and respected. We stand together in fostering a culture of inclusion, dignity and belonging for all.

RETIREMENT CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to Barbara Clymer, Communications Coordinator, who has dedicated 37 years of service, and Claire Hogan, Chief Pupil Services Officer, who has served for 38 years.

FREDDY AWARD WINNERS: FHSTC, Congratulations to Cole Faccinetto for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, as Cookie McGhee; and to Kiersten Rubery for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, as Duchess Estonia Dulworth. FHSTC also won Outstanding Technical Design for their production of Nice Work If You can Get It.

2025 SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAMS: Free Bagged Lunch for any school-aged child. Northeast MS, East Hills MS, Broughal MS and Nitschmann MS, June 16- Aug 22, noon to 1 p.m. (closed on July 4).

CROSSING GUARDS: The Bethlehem Police Department is hiring crossing guards for the students in our city. Shifts are 60-90 minutes. Positions are available throughout the city. Apply at Bethlehem-pa.gov/careers. For more information, call 610-997-7666 or email policetraffic@bethlehem-pa.gov.

These students, in partnership with Artsquest, took full ownership of the experience – from artist selection and event planning to marketing and promotion – gaining valuable real-world skills while contributing to one of the nation’s most celebrated music festivals.

FREDDY AWARD WINNERS: BECA Theater received Freddy Awards for Air Products Education & Community Impact Award, and Outstanding Performance by a Male Ensemble Member, Dominic Oviedo as Reuben, for its production of “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

LVDLCS OUTSTANDING SCHOLAR AWARD

WINNERS: David Villon (graduating from Lehigh Valley Academy) and attending Muhlenberg College to obtain a degree in biology with the overall goal of entering medical school to become a doctor. Jeizel Figueroa-Medina (graduating from Liberty High School) and pursuing a degree in finance/business so he can use his already acquired mechanic/auto body skills to eventually open his own body shop. Congratulations!

FREDDY AWARD WINNERS: Moravian Academy Theatre won Outstanding Technical Design by a Smaller School and Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School, for its production of “The Drowsy Chaperone.”
