‘Integrity, curiosity and determination’
Seniors from Freedom and Liberty high schools were honored for their academic achievements at Foundry in Bethlehem June 3.
Superintendent Dr. Jack P. Silva opened the annual ceremony, at which each formally chose his or her college for the fall, by explaining the historic significance of the Foundry and welcoming the students and their families. He said, “We are proud of you, we believe in you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.”
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Maureen Leeson said, “The combination of your academic achievements and the glowing feedback from your teachers makes one thing abundantly clear: you are among the most successful students in our school district,” stated Leeson. She had the students being recognized give carnations to their families with them on this day.
The students said where they were planning to attend and study. Shown are Nathan T. Vella and Malena E. Sabol. They plan to attend Temple University and DeSales University. They then signed their academic papers as shown by Aaron Smith, who plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh, and Julia Sousa, who plans to attend Moravian University.
The ceremony finished off with cheering and praise from their families and peers, and closing remarks from Silva.
