Pedestrian struck and pinned beneath a vehicle May 22

A pedestrian was pinned beneath a vehicle after being struck by another vehicle while crossing East Emmaus Avenue May 22.

The pedestrian, a 22-year-old female from Summit Hill, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill for treatment.

A news release from Salisbury police outlined the accident as follows:

Police arrived in the 500 block of East Emmaus Avenue 10:24 p.m. May 22 for a pedestrian struck by a westbound vehicle.

The impact threw the pedestrian into the eastbound lane where she was struck a second time.

The pedestrian was pinned under the second vehicle.

First responders from the Eastern Salisbury Fire Department removed the woman from under the vehicle, according to authorities.

The drivers of both vehicles stopped to help at the crash scene.

The accident and investigation closed East Emmaus Avenue from 10:25 p.m. May 22 to1:30 a.m. May 23, according to Salisbury police.

The Lehigh County Accident Construction Team, St. Luke’s Ambulance, the Fountain Hill and Allentown City police departments and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office were among responding agencies.
