Barbara P. Bayer, 95, of Whitehall, died May 25, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Allentown.

Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Marie (McArdle) Bayer.

She attended Saints Peter and Paul Parochial School and graduated in 1947 with honors from Lehighton High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She received first honors from the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in 1950 and received the Helen Daday Sipes Award for Excellence in Nursing.

She worked as a nurse manager at Sacred Heart Hospital for more than 45 years.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church where she participated with the former Golden Agers.

She is survived by a sister, Audrey T. of Whitehall; a godson, H. Lloyd Carbaugh of Allentown; two nephews, Charles D. of Mechanicsburg and David A. of Baltimore; and a grandniece, Jordan of Philadelphia.

She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen M.; and two brothers, Paul A. and Richard C.
