PPL pole

Jason J. Tulish, 44, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup when it allegedly struck a PPL pole 9:03 a.m. May 14 in front of 3467 Route 329 East, North Whitehall Township.

According to State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, the pickup was traveling east on Route 329 when it allegedly traveled across the opposing travel lane, crossed the northern fog line and struck the PPL pole.

A single phase 7200 volt primary power line struck the residence at the scene and ignited the residence, police say.

Police say this portion of Route 329 traversed east and west with one lane in each direction divided by a double yellow line.

The northern and southern edges of the road contain a solid white fog line, beyond the northern edge of the road was the PPL pole.

Police say the pickup sustained a dented front bumper area, front fenders, a bent driver’s side front wheel and a broken tailgate.

The pole sustained damages to include a broken base with the upper portion of the pole supported by the front end of the pickup truck.

The top of the pole was severed with the single phase 7200 volt primary power line severed and laying along the side of the road.

Northern Valley EMS evaluated Tulish refused transport, police say.

Neff’s, Schnecksville and Tri-Clover Fire responded to the scene.

PPL crews responded to the scene for repairs.

Police say an estimated 337 customers were out of power through the day.

Bellview Road was closed approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Old Post Road to Cider Press Road.

Tulish was issued a citation for driving on roadway laned for traffic to be heard before Magisterial District Judge Jacob Hammond, South Whitehall Township.

Woman deceived

in theft

State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, say an 83-year-old woman from the 5000 block of Roth Road, North Whitehall Township, reported a theft of $300 around 7:53 a.m. May 15.

According to police, an unknown individual deceived the woman into purchasing $300 worth of Apple gift cards.

No other information was given other than police are investigating this incident.

Woman scammed by impersonator

State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, are investigating a scam related theft which occurred 1:32 p.m. April 25 and reported by a 75-year-old woman from the 5900 block of Armstrong St., North Whitehall Township.

Police say an investigation revealed an unknown individual after impersonating the woman’s pastor, proceeded to orchestrate a scam resulting in the woman losing a total of $748.65.
