EHS wins EPC title

The Emmaus High School boys volleyball team had been the class of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference throughout the regular season, finishing undefeated at 12-0 and earning the number one seed in the conference tournament.

The Hornets (18-1 overall) continued their win streak over EPC competition in the tournament as they defeated fifth seed Parkland 3-2 in the semifinal and then took down the second seed, Whitehall, in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-22 last Thursday night at Allen High School.

It is the program’s first conference title since 2021, ending a run of three in a row by the Trojans.

“I’m so proud of the team,” said Emmaus head coach Jonathan Wilson. “They were consistent all year in their hard work and dedication and it showed in their record. To win EPCs is a testament to that and all of their practice and determination.”

After going to five sets in the semifinals against the Trojans, Emmaus made quick work of the Zephyrs (17-3, 10-2) and were only really challenged in the third and final set.

Lucas Mondin led the attack with nine kills and added three blocks and five digs on the defensive side of the floor.

Miles Boulrice and Colin Holden both finished with eight kills with Holden adding a team-best 14 blocks and Boulrice contributing six digs. Bilaal Kerim recorded six kills and six blocks. Jackson Holden tallied 10 digs and Ben Skekel dished out 33 assists.

In the semifinal victory over the Trojans the match prior, Mondin netted a match-high 21 kills, while adding nine digs. Boulrice finished with a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. Both Colin Holden and Kerim tallied eight kills and combined for 11 blocks. Christopher Mitchell recorded seven kills and five blocks. Skekel contributed 48 assists and 20 digs and Jackson Holden added 22 digs.

Emmaus, the top seed in the District 11 3A Tournament, will take on the winner of the eighth seed, Allen and ninth seed, Easton, in the quarterfinal round, which was played Tuesday at Emmaus High School.

The district semifinals are slated for Thursday night at Catasauqua High School.
