Salisbury keeps growing with new and returning events

Salisbury High School is busy as always and filled with excitement as students continue to find new ways to get involved, give back and create lasting memories. With spring in full swing and summer approaching, SHS has wrapped up major academic testing while launching new athletic and community-building opportunities.

Starting June 2, volleyball open gyms return to Salisbury for the second year. The program is still fresh, making this an exciting time for students interested in shaping the future of the sport at SHS. Head Coach Kendall Turk, a Salisbury alum, never had the chance to play volleyball for her school and had to join a club team during her high school years. Now, she leads the charge to grow this emerging program and give today’s students the opportunities she never had.

Congratulations to all students who completed their Keystones and AP testing the last few weeks. With these important tests officially behind us, SHS students can take a moment to breathe and celebrate their hard work through a demanding academic season. Your dedication and resilience have not gone unnoticed.

On May 2, Key Club members traveled to Whitehall High School for the Special Olympics, supporting student-athletes in events like soccer, football, bocce and track.

They kicked off the day with a mascot race involving all participating schools. While Salisbury didn’t win this year, school spirit was alive and well, and there’s always next year. The event enjoyed sunny skies and another successful showing for SHS’s commitment to service and inclusion.

May 16 marked AEVIDUM Club Day, a meaningful initiative to promote mental health awareness at Salisbury. Under the guidance of adviser Mrs. Legath, AEVIDUM members handed out stickers and bracelets during lunch, which sparked important conversations and reminded students mental health matters. It was a powerful day of advocacy and support.

Salisbury continues to grow not only in numbers but in heart and community spirit. Whether you’re passionate about sports, service or school spirit, there’s something here for everyone. Get involved and help keep SHS a place where everyone can thrive.
