Athletes from Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom, and Liberty competed in the PIAA State Track and Field Championships on May 23 and 24 at Shippensburg University where Freedom sprinter Natalie Ray and Liberty jumper Anthony Otero won eighth-place medals in their respective events.
State medals are awarded to the top eight in each race or contest.
Ray came in eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.37.
Otero came in eighth in long jump with a distance of 22-9.50.
Liberty’s Casey Huie just missed receiving a medal when he placed ninth in pole vault with a height of 13-6.
Also from Liberty, Elizabeth McClarin came in 14th of 32 in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:14.37.
Teammate Katie Drabouski was 20th in the same race with a time of 2:18.43, and David Myer was 23rd in the boys race with a time of 1:57.67.
Liberty’s 4x800 girls relay team of McClarin, Desiree Freeman, Emma Haas, and Drabouski placed 19th of 28 with a time of 9:42.69.
Freedom distance runner Dylan Boyle came in 20th of 27 in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:34.64 despite beating his district time by 11 seconds.
Bethlehem Catholic distance runner Mekhi Britt placed 17th of 25 in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.86.
Teammate Zack Papcsy was 21st of 25 in javelin throw with a distance of 139-8.
