Athletes from Catasauqua, Northampton, and Whitehall competed in the PIAA State Track and Field Championships on May 23 and 24 at Shippensburg University where Tommy Lloyd, Andrew Szeplaki, Cadeo Estronza, Frankie Pujols, Josiah Lafond, and Hamaad Jenkins won state medals in their respective events.
Whitehall’s Lloyd was the state silver medalist in Class 3A javelin with a throw of 202-2.
Northampton’s Szeplaki also earned a state silver medal with his 15-6 jump in Class 3A pole vault.
Estronza, Pujols, Lafond, and Jenkins are the Catasauqua 4x400 relay team that won Class 2A state seventh place medals with their race time of 3:29.81.
Jenkins, Pujols, Manny Bolmer and Jeremiah Cofie also competed in the 4x100 relay and finished 22nd of 33 teams with a time of 44.38.
Additionally, Northampton’s Lucy Colyer placed 19th of 24 in shot put with a throw of 35-1.25, Alexa Wiland was 27th of 32 in javelin with a throw of 108-5, and Anne Beenders completed the triple jump in 26th place of 33 with a distance of 36-1.25.
