Jean M. Fries, 78, died May 5, 2025, in Crofton, Md. She was the wife of Ronald E. Fries for 56 years last December. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Bertha (Schaeffer) Engler and sister of the late Maynard Engler.

She worked as an analyst and engineer at Pennsylvania State University and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration early in her career. After moving to Crofton, she worked as a media specialist in the library of Crofton Woods Elementary School until she retired in 2012. She was an active member of the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church in Crofton where she sang in the choir and played handbells.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Stephanie Graham, of Crofton, Md. and David, of Keene, N.Y.; brother, Bruce Engler; grandchild, Evan Graham; nieces and nephews.
