Lloyd wins D-11 gold

Whitehall senior Tommy Lloyd threw an astonishing 210-1 in javelin to become district champion at the District XI Class 3A Track and Field Championships on May 15 at Whitehall High School.

Lloyd’s gold medal throw set a new school record previously held by Andy Fahringer.

“I noticed that I peaked too early at leagues and districts, and then states was pretty bad, but I’ve learned to peak at districts now and then hopefully at states again,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd also used a new technique, staying back as long as possible before his throw.

“The competition made everything better,” he said, including the comfort of home field.

Lloyd will compete at the PIAA Class 3A State Track and Field Championships this weekend at Shippensburg University.

Joining Lloyd will be teammate Edrien Lee who placed fifth in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 12.47.
