Coplay: Social Call to perform May 23
Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is planning its summer concert series. The gates open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Bands will play until 10 p.m.
The May lineup for Friday night concerts is Social Call May 23 and Stereotype May 30.
The Wednesday acoustic concerts are 6-9 p.m. The schedule includes the Larry Werner and Madalyn Rayo Duo June 4 and Mere Mortals June 16. The kitchen will be open.

Memorial Day, held this year May 26, is right around the corner. It is a day when members of our military who died while serving the country are honored and remembered. It is a day to reflect on those American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Wednesday night summer series at the gazebo plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets, will continue with Sue Rabenold and Mike 6-9 p.m. May 28.
A special dedication of the gazebo to the former mayor, the late Stephen J. Burker, was held May 14.

Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. May 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The group meets the last Thursday of the month.

The municipal pool opens for the season June 14. The pool will be open noon-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is planning a sandwich pickup lunch June 14. Drive-thru pickup is 10-11:30 a.m.
The menu includes a choice of ham and cheese or turkey and cheese, a bag of chips, small bottle of water and dessert.

Public works Director Paul Boyle announced the borough received a grant-funded street sweeper. Public works will be sweeping streets periodically throughout the summer.
Call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups for sofas, mattresses (plastic encased), chairs, dressers or other large items. There is a limit of two per year at no charge. Also, there will be no tire recycling during 2025.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St., is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.
If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

The Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee is awarding two $5,000 scholarships to Coplay residents who graduated from high school and are planning further education at university, college, technical school or the police academy. Scholarships are awarded annually.
