Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank

Board member candidates needed

The Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank is dedicated to feeding the food insecure of Lehigh County.

As the only food pantry in the area that is open five days a week in addition to one evening weeknight, the food bank serves more than 3,000 people per month who are homeless, housing insecure and have trouble making ends meet.

Organizers are developing a new initiative to bring nutritious food directly to residents in local senior housing communities.

Dynamic individuals who have a desire to serve the food insecure are encouraged to join the food bank’s board of directors.

A recent press release outlined the duties expected of a candidate.

“We welcome candidates with background and expertise in human resources, law, grant writing, finance, and marketing, among other talents.

A background in nonprofit work and connections to the local Hispanic community are especially valuable.”
