SHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a senior at Salisbury High School.

Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Carah and Ryan. I have an older brother named Jonas and a younger sister named Shelby. I have a dog named Frank and two cats named Bowie and Miso.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is chemistry because it combines math and science, my two favorite topics. It is both practical and interesting, as everything in the universe relies on chemistry on the atomic level. I like learning chemistry because I find it satisfying and I am good with numbers.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I was awarded the MVP award for cross-country and the Most Improved Award for swimming this year.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I’m on the cross-country team, swim team and track and field team. I am a member of National Honor Society. I am also involved in Ski Club and Scholastic Scrimmage.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I’m attending the University of Pittsburgh to major in chemistry.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge so far has been mastering time management in order to maintain good grades while also balancing my commitments to sports and saving time for friends and family. Through trial and error, I’m now able to manage my time better and find a healthy balance.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I hope I’ll be remembered as a person who was funny, witty, athletic, kind and intelligent. I also hope people remember me as a good friend who always works hard to achieve goals.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with any historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I would choose Jay-Z. He seems like a wise person who can give me some sound life advice. He is a smart choice because of his lyric, “I’m tryin’ to give you a million dollars worth of game for $9.99,” meaning he’ll give me a million dollars worth of advice.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. I recommend getting involved in extracurricular activities. They’re a great way to make friends, stay active and strengthen your college applications.
