Borough EMS holds community event
Northampton Regional Emergency Medical Services, 1525 Canal St., Northampton, hosted a Community Safety Day May 10. A couple blocks of Canal Street were closed by Northampton Borough to support the event.
NREMS is a nonprofit, volunteer-directed ambulance service and serves as the primary ambulance service for the communities of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Hanover townships and Catasauqua, Coplay, Northampton and North Catasauqua boroughs. NREMS also provides paramedic services to Moore Township.
The EMS team was grateful for the community support donated to make the event a success, such as Berks Foods hot dogs, Herr’s potato chips and Cherryville Bounce donating the fire station-themed bounce house. The American Trauma Society also donated supplies.
On hand were Northampton police and fire department personnel, Bethlehem Health Board representatives, Officer Jon Roth of Lehigh Township Police Department, Slate Belt Regional Sargent Shawn Moskella, state Rep. Zach Mako (R-183rd) and NREMS employees and volunteers.
Police officers provided infant car seat and car fit checks. There were blood pressure screening for attendees, and a plethora of information on safety cards, fliers, pamphlets and books were provided free to the public.
The kids and their families had fun running around the area and enjoying the bounce house. It was a day of safety education, fun and light refreshments.
