Valuable discussion needed in our complicated, fraught times
To The Editor:
Mr. Stonebeck is, of course, entitled to the opinion he expressed about candidates vying for seats on the EPSD school board in his Letter to the Editor in last week’s paper.
I find it unfortunate, however, when Mr. Stonebeck frames the upcoming primary in such politically partisan terms. It does none of the candidates any good – including the ones Mr. Stonebeck favors – when they are so labeled and then ‘painted into such stark corners.’
Such partisan pigeon-holing potentially short-circuits rather than facilitates valuable discussion – which we need more of rather than less of in our complicated, fraught times.
