The EPC volleyball playoffs are set and Freedom will be taking on a familiar foe in Thursday’s opening round.
The Pates will host Parkland in four-five matchup at 5 p.m. in the most intriguing contest in the quarterfinals.
Freedom (15-3) held off the Trojans (11-5) in five games back at the end of March, but Parkland always is a threat at this time of the year.
Parkland entered the contest as winners of seven of their last eight games, losing their regular season finale in four games to top-seeded Emmaus (15-1).
The winner of Thursday’s showdown takes on the Green Hornets in next Tuesday’s semifinals, as Emmaus went undefeated in league play this year.
On the other side of the bracket, Whitehall (16-2) earned a first round bye as the second seed and await the winner of the Nazareth (12-4) and Dieruff (13-6) showdown.
The Zephyrs knocked off Nazareth in four games last week, but lost to the Huskies back on April 10, their last loss of the season.
Whitehall has won nine straight since then.
The finals are slated for next Thursday night, May 15 at a time and location to be determined.
