Amy Lynn Richline, 51, of Bethlehem, owner of Top Notch Estate Sales, has been convicted of 26 counts of deceptive business practices and theft.
Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta said in a release a resident of Bethlehem Township reported in June of 2023 that Richline had conducted their estate sale but not dispensed payment from the proceeds. The victim said many other individuals in the Lehigh Valley had also engaged Richline’s services without receiving payment.
Officers reached out to other victims, each of whom reported nearly identical experiences with Top Notch Estate Sales. The DA’s office issued a press release concerning the fraud, which revealed additional victims, totaling more than 15.
The victims had been prohibited from attending the estate sales and did not receive itemized lists from Richline. Following the sales, clients were issued an invoice and anticipated payment within 15 days, as specified in a contract they had each agreed to and signed. When the 15 days had elapsed without payment, clients contacting Richline got only excuses.
Ultimately, the victims lost contact with Richline, losing a combined total of more than $35,000. A warrant was issued and Richline was arrested June 15, 2023.
Following a four-day bench trial, the Honorable Brian J. Panella found Richline guilty on 13 counts of deceptive business practices and 13 counts of theft. Richline was remanded to Northampton County Prison with sentencing scheduled for July 15.
