Roughies Report: Request extra tickets by May 9 for senior recognition night

The deadline to request extra tickets for Lehigh Career and Technical Institute’s senior recognition night, celebrating the Class of 2025, is May 9. All students’ family and friends must have tickets to join LCTI’s celebration.

The event will be held 6:30 p.m. May 29 at PPL Center, 701 Hamilton St., Allentown. All seniors will be presented with certificates on stage during the event.

Keystone testing for all Catasauqua High School students begins May 12. The Keystone exams replace the PSSA tests and serve as one component of Pennsylvania’s statewide high school graduation requirement. These exams are end-of-course assessments that are designed to assess subject proficiency and guide the school district toward meeting state standards.

Stop by the Rough Rider Arts Walk to enjoy artwork from both Sheckler Elementary School and CHS students. The free community event is set for 4:30-8:30 p.m. May 14 at Sheckler Elemenary, 251 N. 14th St.

The Sheckler fourth-grade band will perform 7 p.m. There will also be snacks and apparel for sale.

Graduation for the CHS Class of 2025 is set for 10 a.m. May 31 in the school gym.

The end of the year is coming. There will be early dismissal June 5, 6 and 9, with CHS students dismissed 11:15 a.m.

The last day of school for students is June 9.

Catasauqua Area School District has a job opportunity available for a sixth-grade math teacher at Catasauqua Area Middle School for the 2025-26 school year. Salary and benefits are competitive, as per the collective bargaining agreement.

Interested candidates must possess an active and valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in any one of the following areas: K-6 certification; middle level mathematics 6-9 CSPG 53; mathematics 7-12-CSPG 50 as per CSPG 104; or grades 4-8-CSPG-70.

CASD is also hiring an instructional aide at Sheckler Elementary. The position starts as soon as possible and runs through the end of the school year.

The role will be to support the teachers in delivering the board-approved curriculum. This position is seven paid hours per day, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, at $143 per day.

Community Music School, 1544 Hamilton St., Allentown, offers a variety of summer music camps and workshops for kids and teenagers ages 7-18.

For kids ages 7-11, camps like Music Exploration, Intro to Piano, Build Your Own Ukulele and Intro to Violin are available. For teenagers ages 12-18, camps include Intro to Music Production, Music and Film Lab and Rock Band Performance.

One-day, one-week or two-week camps are available. All camps begin June 17.
