John J. Herman, 88, of Nazareth, died April 20, 2025, at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth.

Born in Northampton, he is a son of the late John and Rose (Sysko) Herman.

He graduated from Northampton High School in 1954.

He served in the U.S. Army 1960-62 in Fort Dix, N.J., where he was the assistant to the chaplain.

He worked many years in the banking industry until his retirement.

He belonged to American Club of Coplay.

He lived at Gracedale for the last seven years.

He is survived by a brother, Roger Sr. of Nazareth; two nephews, Roger Jr. and wife Lisa of Bath and Thomas Jr. and wife Lori of Rochester, N.Y.; two nieces, Donna Sisson and husband Steve of Penn Yan, N.Y., and Monica Pokrivsak and husband James of Nazareth; a sister-in-law, Antoinette; nine great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas of Endicott, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy; and a sister-in-law, Nancy of Nazareth.
