The Parkland baseball team posted a pair of shutout wins last week to improve to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in East Penn Conference play.
The Trojans beat Whitehall 7-0 last Wednesday, March 26, using a four-run fifth inning to open a six-run lead.
Nathan Unger pitched six innings and allowed just one hit while striking out three Zephyrs and walking three. Steve Sepko pitched one hitless inning against Whitehall and stuck out two batters.
Chase Brunner went 2-for-4 in the win while driving in a pair of runs and scoring once. Will Dobil was also 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Five other Parkland batters had one hit each in the game, including Brady Derr, who reached base three times in four plate appearances with a hit and two walks.
Parkland rolled to an 11-0 win over Pocono Mountain West last Friday, scoring runs in five of the seven innings including three-run innings in the first, fourth and seventh.
Sawyer Marsteller allowed two hits over five innings while striking out seven Panthers and walking just one. Mackaden Parsell pitched two innings and allowed one hit while striking out two batters and walking none.
Ben Weninger (2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Unger (2-for-2, R, RBI) and Derr (2-for-3) led the Parkland offense against PMW.
