Parkland beats PV, falls to Spring-Ford

The Parkland High School boys lacrosse team split a pair of games last week, winning an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game before falling in nonconference action.

The Trojans defeated Pleasant Valley 19-4 in EPC action last Tuesday night, but dropped a game two nights later against Spring-Ford, 14-12.

In the win over the Bears, Parker Kusko led the attack with a game-high six goals. Van O’Mara was right behind with three goals and had an assist. Each of John Gerancher, Colton Arezzi and Breckin Serratore tallied two goals with Gerancher and Arezzi adding two assists each.

Matt Kelley, Mazzin Afif, Matt Scott and Nate Lowrey rounded out the scoring for Parkland with one goal each.

Blake Finnegan, Brennan Shaner, Isaiah Fisher and Cash Winn contributed an assist. Owen Radio and Max Esteban combined to win 19 faceoffs.

Andrew Matulevicius finished with five saves while both Owen Fehnel and Evan Saylor made two saves.

Against the Rams, Spring-Ford scored four of the game’s first five goals to lead 4-1 after the opening quarter and went on top 8-3 at halftime.

The two teams each scored four goals in the third quarter and the Trojans cut into their deficit even more, outscoring the Rams 5-2 in the fourth quarter, but they were unable to make it all the way back.

Kusko paced the offense with four goals and Gerancher recorded three goals and an assist. Arezzi totaled two goals and two assists and Finnegan, Kelley and Bailey Wetmore scored a goal with Finnegan adding two assists.

Danny Tapia notched three assists and Esteban won 14 faceoffs. Matulevicius ended with 13 saves.

Parkland, which improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference, has a busy, three-game week this week.

The Trojans hosted Nazareth this past Tuesday and are at Liberty Thursday night, both conference games. They are then at Pennridge in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon.
