PLANT SALE: Master Gardeners of Lehigh and Northampton counties are offering a selection of 18 native plant species for preorder.
These hard-to-find varieties thrive in diverse sun exposures, soil conditions, and bloom times, making them a valuable addition to any landscape.
The plants are sold as landscape plugs with well-developed root systems, ensuring easier handling, affordability, and successful establishment with proper care.

Order pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 31 at Penn State Extension Lehigh County, 4184 Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall.

ALBANY MEETING: Business conducted at the monthly public meetings of the Albany Township Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Recreation Board and Environmental Advisory Council is important to all residents.
These meetings are held on the first Monday of every month unless a federal holiday displaces it.
Normal: The next scheduled meetings will be held on May 5 at the Kempton Fire Company, 2641 Route 143, Kempton.

A Refuge Guided Hike will take place from 8 a.m. to noon May 3.

TIGER RUN: Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation will be holding its Tiger Run and Fun Walk June 1 at Ontelaunee Park. This is a rain or shine event.
Choose either the 5K, 10K or 1 mile Fun Walk/Run.
Check-in and race day registration starts at 7 a.m., events begin at 8 a.m.

RECOVERY CITY: Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol and the Center for Humanistic Change are hosting a special screening of the documentary Recovery City from 5 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. May 14, at the Civic Theatre of Allentown located at 527 N 19th St, Allentown. This free, public event and film screening will shed light on the challenges and triumphs of women with children who are battling and overcoming addiction.
Prior to the film screening, attendees are invited to a Resource Fair from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring local recovery and family support organizations. The first 100 guests will receive a $10 movie snack voucher.

ANNIVERSARY T-SHIRTS: It’s the Sanctuary at Haafsville’s anniversary. Help celebrate 15 years of hope, healing and second chances. For the first time ever, it is offering its T-shirts to the public. Lehigh Gap Bike Tour for participants ages 10 and older from 5-8 p.m. June 26.
There is a fee per person for non-members for the explorer walk, bike and raft event and bike tour.

KUTZTOWN CENTER: The Kutztown University Council of Trustees approved the naming of the Hawkinson Admissions Welcome Center in honor of university president, Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson, at the council’s April 24 meeting.
The Hawkinson Admissions Welcome Center, located at the corner of Kutztown Road and College Boulevard, will include a renovation of the Poplar House and a new 10,300-square-foot addition.
The new addition will include a lobby and gathering space with a reception/information counter with interactive displays and kiosks; a large multi-purpose meeting room, capable of both table seating for receptions or lecture style layout for presentations; a catering kitchen to support special events; offices for a portion of admissions department staff; and a lounge for student tour guides. The facility will also include state-of-the-art HVAC, lighting and audio/visual features. The building is set to be dedicated June 5.
PING PONG: Kempton Community Center, 83 Community Center Drive, Kempton, will offer ping pong 6-8 p.m. May 8 and 22. A Kempton Community Center membership is required to participate. HAWK MOUNTAIN: Hawk Mountain Sanctuary will host Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Biologist Dan Mummert as guest speaker at its Benefit for the Birds program 6:30 p.m. May 16 at Folino Estate Winery, 340 Old Route 22, Kutztown. CHILDREN’S DAY: Cetronia Ambulance Corps will hold its EMS for Children Day, a free community event 1–4 p.m. May 17 during EMS Week. It is dedicated to celebrating Cetronia’s incredible team while educating children about emergency medical services in a fun and engaging way. Families can explore the ambulances and emergency vehicles, meet Andy the Ambulance, enjoy games and activities, listen to music and grab food from Take a Taco and Drizzle Ice Cream.
This outdoor event takes place at the Lehigh County Sports Fields, 4200 Broadway, South Whitehall and is open to everyone at no cost. Cetronia is also partnering with Starting Over Animal Rescue for a pet adoption, giving attendees the chance to meet animals in need of a loving home.
PIE CONTEST: The Kempton Fair presented by the Kempton Community Center, 83 Community Center Drive, Kempton. The fair is sponsoring a special Pennsylvania Dutch Shoofly Pie baking contest June 12.
